Ways to play blackjack online%%sep%%All tips

September 14, 2018

Blackjack has been around for centuries and is still an incredible popular game. Gone are the days when you had to get dressed up and drive for miles to play in a smoky backroom of some or other casino. You can now play online on your desktop, mobile or tablet at any time of day or night.

The perks that arose from online blackjack are also immeasurable compared to that of a land-based casino. Not only is it incredibly convenient but you can also play with free money while standing the chance to win real money. There are also over 30 different variants of the popular game, which gives you the opportunity to choose a variant of blackjack that works perfectly for you.

First let’s look at the basics of blackjack.

The object of the game is to get 21 or closest to 21 as possible. If your hand value goes over 21, you bust and lose. You can also win by having a hand value that is higher than the dealer’s. Cards from 2 – 10 are worth their face value and the Royals (King, Queen, Jack) are worth 10. An Ace is worth 1 or 11, the choice is yours.

Now that you know what the values of the cards are and what hand will make you win, you can get started. After placing a bet you will be dealt two cards face-up. The dealer will receive one card face-down but in some variants the dealer will receive two cards so make sure you understand the rules of the variant you are playing.

Should your two cards make a total of 21, you win. Examples of this are A-K or A-10 and the pay-out on this outcome is 3:2 to you. If the dealer also has a 21, it is a tie and your bet will move on to the next hand.

All players want a 21 (blackjack) with they’re first hand but you will not always be so lucky. After receiving your cards you will have the option to ‘stand’, which means that you don’t want any more cards. You are also able to ‘hit’ which means that you want another card to get your total closer to 21. You can ‘hit’ until you decide to ‘stand’ or go bust which means that you’ve gone over 21, which will result in the dealer winnings.

If you are dealt two cards with the same value you can ‘split’ the cards. You will need to double your bet and play the hands separately.

When it is the dealer’s turn he will flip over his face-down card or will deal himself a second card. There are a few rules that the dealer MUST stick to. If his cards total is 16 or less, he must hit and if it is 18 or more he must stand. A ‘hard 17’ will force the dealer to stand and a ‘soft 17’ will force the dealer to ‘hit’.

Again it important to mention that the rules change when you are playing different variants of blackjack so make sure you understand all the rules before starting the game.

  • Super Fun 21

Super Fun 21 is one of the most popular variations of blackjack and was invented by blackjack expert Howard Grossman. It has the same rules as classic blackjack but in this variation a round of betting takes place before the cards are dealt.

Players then have the chance to ‘hit’, ‘stand’, ‘double’ or ‘surrender and it is this rule that makes this variation incredibly exciting. And, if a player has a blackjack, the player always wins the dealer, which gives the player an increased chance of winning.

  • Double Attack

This variation is played with eight packs but all 10-valued cards are excluded from the game. Other than that the rules are the same as classic blackjack where players need to get a hand-value closest to 21 as possible without going bust.

In Double Attack players can double their bets after the dealer receives his first two cards and players are also able to take advantage of the move ‘surrender’ at any time in the game.

  • Triple 7’s

Triple 7’s is a perfect choice for players that also enjoy slots as it gives the player the chance to win huge bonus payouts and progressive jackpots that can be won when players place a side bet. The game is played with five decks of cards and the player’s card combinations and hand-total determine the payouts.

  • Chinese Blackjack

As the name suggests this variation derives from China and is traditionally played on Chinese New Year. All players need to get 16 or more and the dealer has the chance to look at a particular players hand and decide to hit again before placing any bets.

If you’ve never played online blackjack before it is understandable that you might be weary to spend your own cash at first. This is why online casinos give you the opportunity to play with free money when you open your account. It is called a sign-up bonus and no deposit is required to get your hands on these free money offers.

The great thing about these bonuses is that you will still be able to win real money that you will be able to withdraw if you can meet the wagering requirements.
